The real-life, actual-world fastest plane in Grand Theft Auto V is an old model that was retired several years ago. It was supposed to be decommissioned in 2012, but instead, it has been taken out of service and put on display at a museum in the fictional state of Blaine County.

In this game mode, players can enjoy the thrill of flying through the air at incredible speeds while competing against other players to set records by destroying targets on-screen as quickly as possible. Although Rockstar hasn’t released official numbers for its performance in regards to how many people have watched the trailer, it’s a safe bet that if more people watched it in their lifetimes than actually played through GTA 5, they wouldn’t have watched this trailer.

But let’s break down what makes this trailer so successful. The first thing that jumps off my radar screen is that it ends on a cliffhanger. The last time we saw Michael (alias Trevor) and Franklin (alias Franklin) was when they were crushed by a falling plane. At this point, there is no way out of eternal damnation for them. I mean, you can walk away from their deaths and go back to your lifelong dream — and all you would get was a bullet point or two in your resume at best…so why do they even want to try?
